What is your business industry category or specialty?
We are an international recruitment firm with a focus on European clients in the USA! YER USA focuses on candidates with Bachelor’s and advanced Degrees for permanent and interim positions at the mid to senior level, including but not limited to, engineering, sales professionals, project managers, HR, finance, executives and directors. We have native Dutch, German, British, Swiss, Italian, Danish and Finnish consultants with extensive business experience in North America.
How do you describe your job to people outside the industry?
Our consultants manage full cycle recruitment processes for our clients and handle everything from intake of a vacancy to evaluation with placed candidates. As a Recruitment Consultant, you are fully responsible for the client’s success in finding the best possible candidates. Finding the perfect match between the company and candidate is a very rewarding result.
Who are your main competitors and what differentiates you from the competition?
What makes you unique?
YER USA focuses solely on European Clients who are either already active in the United States, or those who have serious plans of establishing themselves here. Because all of our consultants are European natives themselves they often times have a much better understanding of the needs and challenges that our mostly European hiring managers face here, both from a language and cultural perspective. YER USA knows its clients’ European/Dutch Brand and value proposition and can effectively pitch these to great US candidates. No local recruiter can ever offer this!
How was the business started?
YER was founded in the Netherlands in 1987 and it’s still independently owned by our founders. In 1999, YER became a market leader in the Netherlands and expanded in other countries, including Belgium, Germany, France, and Spain. The expansion to the USA in 2007 was a natural result of YER’s growth and our partnership with internationally operating clients.
How many employees does the business have?
We have over 250 employees worldwide, and in the United States, we grew from 9 to 22 employees within 3 years. We are now located in New York, Houston, Austin, Richmond and Auburn in addition to Atlanta.
How did you end up in Atlanta?
Atlanta is a very attractive location because it hosts the world’s busiest airport, which is a great gateway to other markets in North America where we work. Also, Atlanta hosts a large number of diverse and international companies with a highly educated demography.
What is your number one business goal over the next year?
Profitable growth of our business in the USA remains the number one goal for us.
What is the best advice you have received regarding hiring in the United States?
Hire the right people! Hire people with cultural flexibility so they can adapt to both cultures.
All your plans and investments fail without the right people in your team. Use a recruitment partner who understands your needs as well as the local US job market.
