What is your business industry category or specialty?
Western Union Business Solutions is in the financial services industry. We specialize in corporate transactions associated with treasury and cash management. Managing high value wire, check and ACH transactions is our primary line of business.

How do you describe your job to people outside the industry?

We work with businesses to send and receive international wires and provide transparency when it comes to foreign exchange transactions.

Who are your main competitors and what differentiates you from the competition? What makes you unique?
Western Union Business Solutions competes with every major bank in the marketplace. Our dedicated account service, reduced fees and ability to execute globally are some of the main reasons corporations of all sizes and industries choose to partner with us.  Our web based technology makes it extremely easy for clients to make transactions 24/7 worldwide without having to disrupt existing banking relationships in the process.

How was the business started?
Western Union is a Fortune 500 firm traded on the NYSE. The company has been in business for over 160 years. Western Union entered the B2B marketplace through the acquisition of Custom House Global Foreign Exchange and Travelex Global Business Payments.

How many employees does the business have?
Western Union Business Solutions has over 2000 employees worldwide operating in roughly 200 countries.

How did you end up in Atlanta?

After graduating from the University of Alabama in 2000 I moved to Atlanta.  Having immediate family in both Orlando, FL and New Orleans, LA, we found that Atlanta was a great central location between the families. Atlanta offers a variety of business opportunities and continues to attract many international companies to the area.

What is your number one business goal over the next year?
We are always trying to build the Western Union Business Solutions brand through various local market and national events.  Our primary goal is to continue to educate the marketplace on the challenges of doing business internationally, and provide the tools necessary to protect corporate earnings and control costs where possible.

What is the best advice you have received regarding doing business with Americans/Dutch?
To be straight and to the point with a solid value proposition that is easily understood.  We have been extremely fortunate to have earned the trust and business from many Dutch companies through our partnership with the Chamber.  Operating with integrity and trust, with the ability to listen and understand our clients’ needs, is a primary contributor to our continued success.

Any other personal information you would like to share, e.g. hobbies, special interests, family etc…
The majority of my time outside of the workplace is spent with my family and friends.  I have two young boys ages 7 and 4 that keep me extremely occupied.  I keep a healthy  work/life balance and positive attitude in everything I do.  I am an avid college football fan and enjoy exercising and staying in shape as much as possible. I love eating a great steak and enjoying good sushi as often as I can.
